Geko Gold Mine

The Geko Gold Mine is situated within the Coolgardie district, Goldfields-Esperance Region, Western Australia — approximately 550 km east of Perth. The terrain is characterised by flat, semi-arid scrubland with shallow regolith profiles typical of the Eastern Goldfields. Extreme ambient temperatures regularly exceed 45°C in summer, imposing critical thermal management requirements on all mobile and fixed plant equipment. Dust suppression protocols and heat-load monitoring systems are non-negotiable operational standards for any contracted vendor operating on site.

• 2018: Open pit mining commenced under Coolgardie Minerals Ltd (ASX: CM1).
• 2019: Coolgardie Minerals entered voluntary administration; operations suspended.
• 2020–2021: SMS Innovative Mining Solutions Pty Ltd conducted interim mining of the Geko pit.
• December 2022: Beacon Minerals Limited (ASX: BCN) acquired the tenements.
• Current model: Low-grade oxide stockpiles from Geko are toll-processed at the Jaurdi processing facility, extending Jaurdi's operational life under a consolidated asset strategy.

Geko's ore is classified as low-grade oxide, processed via Beacon's Jaurdi plant rather than on-site infrastructure. The Jaurdi circuit incorporates a primary grinding mill with gravity and CIL (Carbon-in-Leach) recovery stages, demanding precise pulp density and reagent dosing controls. Thermal stress on mill liners and pump seals is acute given regional temperatures. Vendors supplying wear components, reagent systems, or instrumentation must demonstrate compliance with high-cycle, high-temperature operational environments standard to the WA Goldfields processing corridor.

• Tailings management: All process residues are directed to Jaurdi's licensed tailings storage facility (TSF), subject to DMIRS regulatory oversight and ANCOLD guidelines.
• Rehabilitation: Geko open pit and disturbed footprint require progressive rehabilitation under WA Mining Act 1978 obligations, including landform reconstruction and native vegetation re-establishment.
• FIFO workforce: Rotational FIFO rosters from Kalgoorlie-Boulder reduce permanent footprint; camp and welfare infrastructure demands are consolidated at the Jaurdi hub.
• Water stewardship: Process water recycling from the TSF return system is critical in this water-scarce semi-arid environment.
